The Value of Mapping

Spatial thinking is the focus of the RJI Collaborative Mapping Portal.  The long history of spatial thinking has led to powerful mapping technologies available to users at all levels of proficiency – from novice to expert.  Information that can be visualized and analyzed using map-making and spatial analysis technologies includes: spatial locations, patterns, relationships, change over time (process) and cause and effect (outcomes).  The ultimate outcomes of spatial thinking are a better understanding of one’s data and more informed, more effective decision-making processes.
